In the world of animation, there’s an exercise called the bouncing ball, and it’s exactly what it sounds like – a ball that bounces. Due to its simplicity, it’s somewhat like animation’s version of a Margherita pizza. There are so few ingredients that the quality of each one has to be top-notch, or the result will be poor.
It’s used to practice the laws of physics and the principles of squash and stretch. It’s one of the first exercises you’re introduced to when you delve into the principles of animation. I felt like expanding the exercise a bit and seeing if I could animate 8 balls (14 in total) of varying sizes and weights.
